Please can you (or anyone) tell me how to do this with a flat ethernet cable? They seem to be wired differently to traditional round ones and I can't find any crimping tool, stripper or tutorial for them. It's a flat Cat 6 cable and I just need to put a new connector on one end.

We have very strong internet, but it doesnt get upstairs.. and not good enough of signal to get outside to the bridge system. Anyway.. I just needed to let you know some things. The cable in this video is solid. NEVER crimp RJ45 connectors onto solid wire cable. Only use stranded wire cables for that. This video shows what you MUST NOT do. The gold tips of the connector will not go through a solid wire. Horrible connection, if any at all. Then you might wonder why there is no connection.

All these vids on how to hook plug to ethernet wire are no good to me cause my ethernet cables use totally diffrent coloured wires. Mine must have come from Mars, even though i bought them from the usual shop outlets, i just dont get it.

great video , for my needs this is overkill, I have cat 5e UTP cables in the wall so I get the cheapest plugs and crimp those. The router has a max of 1 Gbps and will reach this trough this this cables. The internet from the isp is a 500 kbps symmetrical so I think will not need cat 7 :)))

Firstly, thank you for the video. Secondly, I took me 2 hours to coax these damn tiny wires to stay and go on the right order through TWO connectors - with very short wire I may add. I hope I never have to do this again..

No. It is "proof of address" not "proof of residence". These are two very different things. The rules are you need to provide "proof of address". So it doesn't need to be a "utility bill" as you claim. This is bad advice!

An important point to add here is that when inserting the wires into the connector you must have the clip side down. Though this video does show that I thought it an important point to make for anyone doing this for the first time.

Does anyone ever have a problem with the crimping tool not crimping all the wires? Is it the tool or the connector or is it possible the wires are crossed which prevents them from being crimped properly?

Will my regular Ethernet crimping tool work on these ends to crimp the end on? Or is the crimping tool designed different for these ends?

Will these work for cat6a?

If you're just making cables for your own home, is there any reason you couldn't just wire "straight through", i.e., without the goofy color order? Seems to me that if you went orange, orange-white, green, green-white, etc., it would work just as well. Isn't it the case that as long as the same wire is connected to Pin 1, then the same wire is connected to Pin 2, etc., that you would get electrical connectivity from the plug on one end to the plug on the other end.
